Every run club has the fast ones at the front. Turns out, it all comes down to how they're managing the pre-, during, and post-run window. Here are a few simple tips so you can close the gap.
Every run club has that person (or people) who runs 10 miles at a crazy fast clip and still barely looks winded. Meanwhile, everyone else is hunched over, gasping for air. We did some investigative research and asked the fastest runners at top run clubs what they’re doing differently. For them, it all comes down to three fueling windows: Before, during, and after.
Pre-Run: Prime the Engine
SwissRX Nitric Oxide: Widens blood vessels so more oxygen reaches working muscles before the run even starts. That means your legs get what they need from the first mile, not after you’ve already dug a hole.
FlyCarb Bicarb: Sodium bicarbonate wrapped in a gel base, buffering the acid that makes hard efforts burn. The gel format is designed to be easier on your stomach, so you can push the pace a little longer when it starts to hurt.
Nomio: A broccoli sprout shot that helps you clear lactate faster during the short recovery windows inside a hard effort, like the stretch between intervals or the easy section after a surge. Clear it faster in those windows and you’re a different runner by the final push. Take it three hours before go-time.
During the Run: Keep the Engine Humming
Precision Fuel PF 30 Chew: 30g of carbs in a simple two-piece format. Easy to crush mid-run, and easy to take in smaller doses, so you can keep a steady stream of fuel going instead of waiting until you’re running on empty.
Shokz OpenRun Pro 2: Bone conduction headphones to pump up the jams without blocking out too much noise. You stay aware of traffic, cyclists, and your running buddies, and good music has a way of making the hard miles feel shorter.
Post-Run: Recover Smarter
Enervit Magic Cherry: Concentrated tart cherry extract with 50mg of anthocyanins per serving. Take one sachet right after finishing to help calm post-run inflammation and get ahead of next-day soreness, so you’re ready for the next run sooner.
Dream Shot: The fastest person at run club isn’t just fueling well, they’re sleeping well too. And that’s where most real recovery happens. This 2oz tart cherry shot is built to help you fall asleep, stay asleep, and get deeper restorative sleep, so the training you did today actually turns into fitness.
Before, during, after. Master those and you’ll be ahead of the run club pack.
